Drive through grassy plains and Gidyea lined avenues as you travel the Langlo-Adavale Road. See Gidyea forests that are home to multiple forms of wildlife and local landmarks such as Mount Conebreak and Corey Peak. This track is a great alternative to taking the Matilda Highway and gives you the opportunity to see more of Queensland’s outback as you travel between Tambo and Blackall.

Drive through beautiful country landscape as you make your way along the road from Blackall to Idalia National Park. This national park protects an area that has a great variety of vegetation, wildlife and birdlife. Idalia’s craggy escarpments emerge from dense mulga woodland to give breathtaking views. Follow the scenic drives or leave the car behind and explore further into the park to go bushwalking or bird watching.
Tambo’s Wilderness Way is a self-drive tour through an area of rugged beauty with the road traversing a landscape of deep gorges and vast cliff lines. Enjoy vistas of tangled ranges and unique flora. To travel the Wilderness Way you can head out along the Augathella - Tambo road and follow the road signs. You can do the complete loop and come out on the Springsure Road or do the journey in the opposite direction.
This drive presents great views of beautiful outback scenes and provides snapshots of the varying bio regions, landscapes and native wildlife that abound in the Tambo region.The Downs Drive takes you through some of Tambo’s finest grazing country and some of the oldest properties in the district. The loop travels a total of 115kms.
